This was another first round match from the 2004 WXW Elite 8 Women’s tournament. This match featured Lacey taking on Mercedes Martinez in an excellent match. This was Lacey’s first appearance in the Women’s Elite 8 tournament, but Martinez has wrestled in many WXW matches, including the inaugural Women’s Elite 8 back in 2002 making it all the way to the finals only to be defeated by Tracy Brooks.

These two women are so talented and familiar with each other in the ring that each of their matches is better than their last, and this match is no exception. Both have great skills on the mat and much of this match was submission based. Both exchanged leg locks and holds twisting each other in pretzels hoping the other would submit. Lacey, having experienced early success in her career in IWA Mid South, is looking to claim her first Elite 8 Women’s trophy to add to her list of titles and accomplishments while Martinez is out to prove to everyone that she is a woman of power and strength, and wants another shot at the Elite 8 trophy.
