What a treat it is that IWA Mid South is able to provide a match as special as this. No matter what style you prefer, which particular workers you prefer, which companies and federations you like, this is a match that all true wrestling fans should see. Mr. “No gimmicks needed,” Chris Candido and his partner Steve Stone take on hardcore legend Ian Rotten and “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes in a highly entertaining and memorable match.
It’s too often that the wrestling world loses wrestlers too early in life. Chris Candido is a prime example. Not only is he great to watch in the ring, but is also gold when he’s got a microphone in his hand. IWA Mid South fans were lucky to witness both this night. If Chris Candido wasn’t enough by himself, wrestling icon Dusty Rhodes puts on a hell of a performance for a man of his age. Often legends who work independent shows around the country may not deliver the four star matches they were once able to wrestle in their prime. Not Rhodes, as he demonstrated in this match why he is truly a legend and the “American Dream” fans all over the world love.
You can’t help but smile and laugh a little at Candido while watching him work. It’s almost as if his love for wrestling shines through in all his work as it just looks like he’s a child playing in his playground. He makes such a perfect opponent for a wrestler like Dusty Rhodes that it is extremely entertaining just seeing him get the snot beat out if him, but then shed a tear knowing you won’t ever be able to see him do it again. Truly a very fun and entertaining and emotional match.
